When will Go To Travel be available again? Start as soon as possible after February.

On November 19th, the government formally unveiled part of the new Go To Travel content. It was previously stated that the timing of resumption would be determined by the infection situation during the year-end and New Year holidays, but Prime Minister Kishida stated on January 6 that the timing would be determined by the infection situation “it should be considered carefully after assessing the infection situation. It is not a concrete situation.” , For the time being, the proposal of not resuming Go To Travel was presented.

Although there is a claim that “it will be adjusted by resuming it after February at the earliest,” the government is based on a nationwide resumption once the infection has reduced, and priority measures such as spread prevention have been implemented in the three prefectures. There is also the potential of being late for.

Prefectural prefectural divide to adopt its own 1 person 1 limit per night 7,000 to help yen ” local tourism business support implemented” The government has displayed a strategy of step-by-step progress, Go To as an alternate measure till travel resumed. On the basis of using the vaccine test package, the target will be expanded to surrounding prefectures, and the implementation term will be prolonged until March 10, 2022. We want to extend the prefectural discount to regional blocks and link it to new Go To Travel options.

(4) Tourism support to rural areas.
Increased discounts on travel products, including transportation expenses.

( 5) Soft landing
After Golden Week, the business will be based on prefectures, and the discount rate will be gradually reduced.

(6) Excludes busy seasons
Excludes busy seasons such as spring break.

Lowering the maximum discount amount and discount rate, and increasing the number of regional coupons on weekdays.

So far, Go To Travel has subsidized half of the travel price up to 20,000 yen per person per night (35 percent travel discount + 15% regional common coupon), setting a high discount upper limit. Inns with a high price tag have grown popular. Furthermore, it was noted that tourist attractions are packed on weekends and successive holidays, making it easy to become honey, and that the increase in human traffic may have led to the spread of infection.

Given these concerns, Prime Minister Kishida initiated “Go To 2.0”, an initiative that developed anti-infectious disease measures before assuming office, and opted to use vaccines and testing kits. We’ve switched to a new system that prioritizes safety and security, such as spreading travel demand by separating holiday and weekday discount rates.

Furthermore, the discount rate and maximum discount amount will be reduced to avoid focusing on luxury inns, and the use of transportation companies will be drastically reduced. We are in favor.

The government has set aside around 268.5 billion yen in the extra budget for this year for “new Go To Travel,” which, when combined with the existing budget, will total nearly 1.3238 trillion yen.

Luxury inns were popular when the previous Go To Travel discount rate was 50% and the maximum amount of benefits was as high as 20,000 yen per person per night. We were able to secure a maximum subsidy of 40,000 yen for a room that cost 80,000 yen for two individuals.

We enhanced the true discount rate in the low-priced category with the new Go To Travel so that the popularity of luxury inns is not concentrated. When the price is 15,000 yen or less per person per night on weekdays and 5,000 yen or less per person per night on holidays, the method is meant to exceed the previous discount rate of “50 percent” (see the table above).

How long will it take for the new Go To Travel? Assuming this is before the Golden Week

According to information as of November 19, the government wants to execute Go To Travel until 2022, just before the Golden Week holidays (GW), and tourism support measures by prefectures from GW to summer vacation. During busy seasons like spring break and Golden Week, however, it is standard practice to specify exclusion days.

The maximum discount percentage is 20%, and the maximum discount amount is 8,000 yen with a 3,000 yen regional coupon. The policy is to set the discount rate flexibly based on the region’s actual conditions.

What is the “vaccine / test package” that will be utilized in Go To 2.0?

A “vaccine / test package” is a system that employs vaccination and negative certification to demonstrate that there is a low risk of infection with the new coronavirus. With the introduction of the “Vaccine / Test Package”, persons who have been vaccinated or who have a negative certificate will not be subject to the request for self-restraint as a country, such as business travels and journeys that cross prefectural boundaries.

“Support for regional tourism businesses” until Go To is restored, with coverage expanded to neighboring prefectures and regional blocks.

Because the suspension of Go To Travel has been prolonged, the government will implement “Regional Tourism Business Support” from April 2021 to March 10, 2022 to financially support prefectural discounts. The total amount of the business is about 300 billion yen, and the budget of Go To Travel will be diverted.

A maximum of 7,000 yen per person will be subsidized for areas in stage 2 and below (up to 5,000 yen for travel expenditures + up to 2,000 yen for regional common coupons), with the content and discount rate defined unilaterally by each prefecture.

The objective will be expanded to surrounding prefectures from November 19, based on the use of the vaccination test package, and the implementation time will be prolonged until March 10, 2022. After the beginning of the year, we will broaden the aim of the prefectural discount to regional blocks such as “Kyushu area” by checking the infection situation, and connect it to a new Go To Travel.
